I realized that Vanessa's vocabulary is growing quite fast.She can greets people with a hi or heyyo and say bye with matching wave.She also says tenk you when she wants something or you give her something.She also says shoe, shake, bis you (bless you) when she sneeze, mami, dada, a-o, go and 3 days ago she said the dreaded word no.She says it a lot as in a lot with a shake on her head too.It is so fascinating to see my girl blossom into a talking being.Cant wait to her more words in the next few days.

When we went to the California mountains to show vaness the mountains she wasn't even walking yet but this time we were so excited to see her reaction to the snow.We got lucky it snowed the day we arrived in Colorado.I enjoyed it specially because it was heavy snow fall.I did waste time to take pictures of us playing in snow.I bet it was exciting because it does not always happen but it must get boring when you are surrounded with snow for months.I'm glad we went it was such an unforgettable trip.

First plane ride

Funny when vanessa was young would only nap for 25-30 minutes but now that she is 13 months she takes 2 long naps a day.I wake up tired from that nap though.lols.Joel went out to settle some stuff with his mothers death.I feel bad for him because he is not feeling so well probably his depression is back but there is nothing I can really do to lighten him up.I wish he would just take things lighter than it is.He is feeling this thing in his chest that he thinks might kill him.I am praying to God to let Joel see that he should not be too scared of death.It is natural and besides him always thinking about it makes it worse because he is not sure of he is just hypochondriac or really having something wrong with his heart.Lord help my hubby.

Vanessa's sleeping habit is back to normal I should say..Go to bed at 8 and wake up at around 6:40am.Not too bad.I really needed the sleep.I can now see her molar out of her gums but she still has 3 to go,the left molar and the 2 upper molars.I bet this is gonna be a long ride for me again when the pain strikes.I'm just hoping it wont happen while we are in vacation because I don't want to bother other people with her cries and stuff.I am crossing my fingers on that one.

We went out to the mall with some of our friends and we sure had fun.it was nice to go to the mall with friends because I'm used to going just with Vaness so that I am my onw boss when it comes to my time.But then going out with other people made me realize that it makes you buy less because you talk with each other and most of your time are consumed by chatting not by going through stuff in the store.We must have been in the mall for 4 hours and I only bought 1 item, a pants for vaness at the gap store.I'm proud of myself for being there for a long time but not buying too much.

ATV ride at one of the British virgin islands

Joel is not feeling so well recently.he said he feels some twitching in his heart muscle.I told him to see a doctor by monday because he plans to go to her cardiologist next week.I dont think he should wait because we don't know if something is wrong with his heart.he had some problems before and for it to come back is not impossible.I hope nothing is wrong because he said it probably is just a product of his mind because he keeps thinking it and that it happened to him once he kept thinking something and he really wasnt feeling well but when the doctor told him everything in the result is fine he started feeling better.I dont blame him for being hypochondriac sometimes.he had some health issues before so its normal for him to be bothered with it.

last night was not so good for Vaness and i because her molar gums are swollen and she really was restless.She woke up twice crying like its the end of the world almost like a big girl screaming.I put some oragel but I can't tell if it helped her go back to sleep or my rocking her on the rocking chair.I'm just glad Joel was so ready to care for her for breakfast so I was able to grab some much needed sleep.He also cooked breakfast and took her for 2 hours to go to moms house.I was also able to clean up and made the mess in the house less noticiable.I hope tonight she'll better, if not I will just be by her side ready to comfort her.

this is a long overdue post but I thought I'll share some of the pictures.we were supposed to go to the mall but then I changed my mind because I have to go to Nordstrom rack to pay.So we went with Shiela and Arthur and realized there is a farmers market that day.It was hard to find parking but then we just went higher on the parking lot and found a lot of spots.The kids enjoyed our walked because it has a party like atmosphere..lot of noise and some people are playing different musical intsruments like guitar, drums and some I dont know the name.We had some food from one of the food stores and ate along the sideways where there were available chairs.I wish I could do that more often.

Today was moms funeral and I sure feel the emptiness of knowing that we will never be able to see her again.I know It's time for her to move on to her next chapter but I think part of me says that she has to be there for Joel, so that he won't be sad.I know vaness will have no memory of her but I have plenty of pictures so that she will still have a glimpse of her grandma when she's bigger.I really hope she is in peace now and is in a happier world.

mom passed away today and everybody is sad about.The funeral is scheduled next week.I am sad because she was so nice to me even if she had doubts about my getting married to her son.She saw how sincere I was and maybe at one point she started to appreciate what I do for Joel.Even if it is a sad moment we were all relieved because she is now in peace with her husband who waited for her for 13 years.May she rest in peace.

Im so glad that even if I have some problem dealing with her sleep when she was younger she came out to be a good eater.She loves everything from asparagus, zucchini, broccoli and a w lot of variety of vegetables.it was once my fear that I will have to make tricks so that she will eat but it turn out to be just fine.I'm glad Joel had experience with babies because I did not have to carry all the burden of taking care of her.he loves to feed her so that is one task that I dont have to do.

Our garage is old, disorganized and totally needs to be redone.Since we have the space for a concrete sectional garage we are looking into that.We can use it for more storage room, space for things in the house that we occasionally use like tools, exercise machine and winter clothing.As an addition to our planned new garage we would also love to have a Concrete Workshop so that Joel can do things without being restricted by space.It will more convenient for him to do things like carpentry if he has an area where he can really make as his work haven.I know we really need to think about it and be sure about we wanted because it is a project that entails money.But I'm sure I'll find somebody who who's price is very competitive like lidget.co.uk who has been in the business for quite a while and knows their costumers needs.

I am glad one of my friend found interest in going with me to the library tomorrow to attend the library's mommy and me weekly gathering.I have been there when vaness was smaller but she was still too small to really know what was going on.But now that she is older i would love to expose her to other children so that her strangers anxiety will not be too bad.She had it recently which is perfectly normal but I believe it is my job to expose her a little bit to other children so that she will learn to be more social and interactive.So I am excited for tomorrow.

Like I mentioned in one of my post, Vaness is starting to make her walking milestone .Last night was different she made 10-15 steps crossing from me to Joel.We were sooo excited!I'm glad I was able to take videos of it.She's still scared but I bet she will be walking more distance than she did last night.It's fun watching her but I know I should be more watchful because she will be all over the place.

vaness and I had been busy the last 3 days so we have not updated this blog again.Monday was shopping day for food in the house, Tuesday we went out to play tenni in the morning, go to her pediatrician at 11am, had some visitors over at 4pm which meant I spent most of my afternoon cooking some dish.We we're happy to finally meet Joel's friends fiance who arrived from the Philippines last Sunday.She was sweet and nice.We hope this time it's for good for Joel's friend.And the today we spent most of the day at nancy's house to harvest her avocado.We had fun and so did our babies.Sheila and I are hoping to go back again and bring nancy some halu-halo.

Vanessa's first snow experience

We have been planning to go up to the mountains for the last few weeks but the storm and the birthday party deterred us from really making our plan final.Finally after seeing that the weather will calm down on Thursday and Friday we booked for our cabin and off we went.We left around 8:30 and got their towards noon.We just checked in and left right away to the area where there are a lot of snow activity going on.It is called Snow valley.We went to snow sled for about 5 hours resting in between.I have been to Big Bear before but was so timid to do it.This time I finally did!Vaness had a blast.She loves ding i so much except that she got me worried because she wont wear her parka.She must very uncomfortable in it so we decided to just let her wear his sweater.It was a very nice day to be out because the weather was perfect.Not too cold nor hot.In California you get the best of both worlds.Beach just 5 blocks away and mountains a 90 minute drive to see the snow during winter.

The next day Joel decided to try again his passion years ago which is skiing.He stopped doing it because of work, health problems and the distance.I urged him to try it again because you don't unlearn skiing.And he did it!...for 6 long hours..All Vaness and I did was wait..and wait..and wait and oh by the way did I mention wait? I have to endure being out there not sure what to do except eat and feed vaness because he has not done it for the longest time ad I want him to feel good about himself and he did!.so here are some of the photos...

we always try not to spoil her.Joel specially.I do spoil her with clothes though and shoes too.I can't help it oh my.I may have to rethink my priorities because she has too much clothing.I may not spoil her with toy and other stuff but clothing?Can't help it! Sick grandma

I went to anne sanborn's blog and I can't help but reminisce the time when I gave birth to vaness.I was excited and scared.I had a very quick labor but then when the time came to push vaness would not descend so the gyne decided to take me to the operating room and be done with it.Funny when she came out I blurted "she's white" and everybody had a good laugh.I expected her to be sooo filipino so it was a bit of a shock for me because she looked so fair skinned and she also had such light hair color almost blond.She also let go of the loudest cry I ever hear.I thought oh my God is she gonna be a cry baby?But the no matter how much they fuss, mothers will love them unconditionally.Thats exactly how I felt.

last night while we were watching the Laker games Vaness walked like 4 steps from Joel to me!we got so excited but she would not do it again.it was just a glimpse of whats to come.I always wish i could take a video or something but she would always do it in the most unexpected moment.By the way it's pouring rain in CA.they said there is a Pacific Storm thats why the rain is supposed to last for days...

thoughts about her Birthday party

everything i almost ready except for the party itself.I am so excited to see her in her chinese inspired dress.Joel and I agreed to have her wear it because I also have one which we got from the Philippines on our honeymoon which I only wore once for the sake of taking a picture.Most of the stuff I need are all in the house including those i ordered online.I will post some pictures after the party but for now all I can do is feel excited my little one is turning a year old.

thats the name of the filipino market where I usually take vaness when I need or carve something to eat.It's far from our house so it makes her bored in the backseat.Now she know what entertainment to use so that it wont be so boring.we brong along this pink ball that I got for her yesterday.Except that after a while she throws it on the side and I can't pick it up for her because I'm driving.She just fell off to sleep and woke up when we got to the store.I picked up some pancit ingredients for her birthday.I also got some turon, pandesal, peanut and pitsi-pitsi.

yesterday we spent most of the day going from one market to another.I'm glad Joel was off from work it wasn't so hard on me because it was also raining.When we got home both of us (the girls) have to stay on the side line because Joel has to sit down and start preparing our tax materials since he has a meeting with our accountant early next month.He has to do it early because he is preparing tax for us and for his mom.So vaness and I stayed in her bedroom and played most of the time.Actually we either played or napped.I think Joel finally did it at 11pm,that is getting up from the office to eat, pee or talk to us from time to time.

worst morning in 3 months

I had the worst morning in 3 months.Vaness woke up at 4:00 am and keeps waking up every hour.I was beginning to think her teeth must be bothering her again because it was unusual for her to be waking up that much.She must have gotten tired after 7 she slept beside me till 9.That was quite a break and then Joel got her so that I can sleep.I told him I'll check my email first and post this entry.So now I'm off to our bedroom to grab some much needed sleep.

One of our friends invited us to play tennis with them in the afternoon, so we left Vaness at ibib's house.We must have left her for 2 hours.They said she did very good..no crying, love to play with Guen (Ibib's daughter).They even took videos of her walking.She can now make small steps which makes us think could be walking pretty soon.Today she did her first 2 steps without holding unto anything or anyone.Which is a big feat for babies.We are so delighted to see her going into this stage.Even if it's sooo hard to capture her on camera because the moment sh sees it she would instantly grab it and forget about her walking.Fun day!

the come back of a bad habit

I know exactly how it happened.She was teething and I can't help but pick her up every time she cries while she's in her crib.So now after months of hard work I'm back to waking up between 5:30-6:00 to feed vaness. and then put her back to her crib so she can go back to sleep.She used to sleep from 7:30-7:00am but now...I have to deal with that early morning thing.I would have wanted to try the reassure with no reward approach except that for sure she will cry and wake Joel up.I guess I'll just have to deal with this.At least she doesn't wake up in the middle of the night.

Standing up alone

Since she turned 11 months she started standing up alone but still very scared to make that big step.I also can't quite capture her in my camera because when she sees it she would right away sit down wanting to grab the camera.I'm not sure if these is a sign that she will be walking soon.It sure is fun to see our baby go through all the milestones.I think that is one joy that a stay at home mom can really enjoy.See your baby go through all those.

first flipflop

I know that the baby books and pediatrician would say " they wont need it till they really start walking" but I do love the flipflop so I got her one and one for my inaanak.She can't keep her eyes and hands off it because of the glitters and everything.I got her a bigger one because she might be using it for now because of the weather.She tried it on and eventually took it off because she wants to eat it rather than wear it.

One of the new years nicest day.Since Joel decided to finish some paperworks with taxes, bills and moms finances Vaness and I went shopping at the nearby Children's place.80% of her clothing must be from that store because it is the nearest to our house ( 7 blocks) and the quality is just fair for the price.She wont be needing expensive stuff she will our grow it as fast as a lightning.Its a very nice day out so we also walked along second street and went in some stores like Gap, banana republic and body works.When we went home Joel is done so we went out to the nearby park to hit some tennis balls.weather is perfect for some fun.we then took Vaness to the park for some swing ride.

birthday invites

Finally I'm done sending out all the invites today.Hopefully people will RSVp so that I will not be guessing if they will come.Some of our friends have confirmed they will come when I delivered the invitations but some probably have some things to do for the weekend.I'm hoping it will be a fun party.It is her first birthday party so we are excited for her.She loves parties and she may not understand yet that this one is for her.For sure she will smile when she see the pictures when she grows up.

I must have spoiled vaness the past few days when she wasn't feeling well because right now she wont go to bed alone she either wants me to sing to her or rock her.I have to go back to my old routine or else I'm back to where I started.I worked so hard on making sleep on her own in her crib and now I may have to work on it again.I hope everything will go back to normal in the next few days.
